Noise cancelling is not a single number
Active noise cancelling handles steady, low-frequency noise well: aircraft engines, air conditioning, traffic. It is nearly useless against speech and keyboard clatter. If your problem is a loud colleague, a well-sealing over-ear headphone does more for you than paying extra for flagship ANC.
Three price tiers and what you get
- Under 2 million VND: usable ANC and usually very long battery. Default tuning is bass-heavy.
- 3–5 million VND: clearly better ANC, decent call microphones, high-quality codecs.
- Over 6 million VND: the difference is in how natural transparency mode sounds and how comfortable they stay over hours — not in raw cancelling power.
Four questions before you buy
- How long do you wear them at a time? Over two hours and over-ear beats in-ear for comfort.
- Which phone do you use? AirPods only show their full value on an iPhone.
- Do you take a lot of calls? If so, microphone quality matters more than sound quality.
- Do you carry them daily? If so, folding matters more than you would expect.
Bottom line
Most people do not need headphones over 5 million VND. Start under 2 million, use them for three months to learn what you actually miss, then upgrade with a specific reason.
